- Go to "Tools > Account Settings > Outgoing Server (SMTP)". IF you don't see "Tools > Accounts Settings" under the "Tools" menu, try the "Options" menu.
- Select the server and press the Edit... button.
- Under "Authentication Method", select "Normal Password".
- Type your full email address in the "User Name" field, and click "Ok"
- Click "OK" again to get out.
- Thunderbird will ask you for your password the first time you send email and you can optionally save it at that time.
