How to enable SMTP Authentication in Mozilla Thunderbird

These steps will guide you to setup SMTP Authentication in Mozilla Thunderbird:
  1. Go to "Tools > Account Settings > Outgoing Server (SMTP)". IF you don't see "Tools > Accounts Settings" under the "Tools" menu, try the "Options" menu. 
  2. Select the server and press the Edit... button.
  3. Under "Authentication Method", select "Normal Password".
  4. Type your full email address in the "User Name" field, and click "Ok"
  5. Click "OK" again to get out.
  6. Thunderbird will ask you for your password the first time you send email and you can optionally save it at that time.
