By default all remote access to the MySQL server is blocked from the internet, due to security reasons.
cPanel has a build in MySQL Administration tool, called phpMyAdmin.
From here you are able to manage any database in your account. You can also download any database to your PC, and upload it back to the server once you have finished working with it.
If you absolutely need to have remote MySQL access, then you need to add your current internet connection's IP address to the MySQL Remote IP Addresses list, as follows:
- Login to your cPanel.
- Scroll down to the "Databases" group
- Click on "Manage Remote MySQL Access"
- Type in your IP address. If you don't know what it is, then you can obtain it from http://www.getmyip.co.za
PLEASE NOTE: Do not, under any circumstances use "%" as "Access Host". If your website gets hacked due to this setting then you will be held liable for any damages caused on the server.
